"Just Jeepin'" (macintux)

I’m not a car show guy. I pay for MotorTrend on Demand so I can catch Dirt Every Day, but that’s about it, other than an occasional dive into some Jeep channels on YouTube.
I absolutely love (most of) Car Masters, the new show on Netflix, covering Gotham Garage. I’m sure some of the drama is faked, but the team is
compelling, and I just had to pause
episode 4 because it got a little too real. If you’ve seen it, you probably know what I mean.
It’s not as technical as I’d like, but it’s supposed to be approachable by everyone, not just gear heads, so I understand the motivation.
Anyway, it’s possible that my apathy towards car shows means that they’re all better than this one and I’m just a sucker for Caveman and Constance, but if you haven’t checked it out, I recommend it.

Another “ car” show for people who like drama more than cars?
I tend stick with Roadkill/HRG/Dirt Every Day/Engine Masters. MTOD is worth the subscription!

What I would really like is for someone to break out of the 20 year old “reality TV show” format . You have interesting cars built by real people. You don’t have to do it the way every other show does.

I got through episode 1 and it’s just another shitty Velocity network-style reality show that happens to have cars in it full of stupid schtick and absolutely nothing to keep anyone remotely technical interested.

Is the subscription version significantly better than watching it free? I assume the app is the same, just without ads? I can’t stand how garbage that app is. The free version is so bad that I don’t want to pay for it. The lack of chromecast support is enough for me to ignore it entirely. But it’s laggy as hell otherwise as well. I wish I could pay for the content and just watch it on the YouTube app.

Watched the first episode and didn't hate it but didn't find what was so special about it versus the typical garage reality show. I mean I thought the engine chick was kinda hot, caveman was hilarious, and I enjoyed the way they struggled through the smart car stuff.

The app has improved, but it’s still not great. The iOS version is decent, but the Roku version is terrible. I’m not sure what content is available for free, but I get RK, RK Garage, HRG, Engine Masters, Dirt Every Day, and the daily RK and DED “extras”. Frei berger and Dulcich are my spirit animals.

Does the ios version have chromecast support? That's pretty much my only requirement. It was halfway decent playing on my phone but I'd much rather watch on my projector. Casting the whole screen "worked" but is always kind of garbage.

Sadly, I don’t think so.

Give Stevestonmotorco on you tube a try. Most of their videos are Mini focused. There is the normal technical stuff, but the have some good travel videos, especially their trip to Japan, some short films and some goofy stuff. They seem to be doing good work.

I liked it a lot more than I like most of those shows, I liked the builds a lot more than anything foose does for instance. Wasn’t really crazy about caveman or constance though lol, and didn’t like the vw bus build but I did actually watch all 8 episodes which is more than I can say about any similar show in the last decade.

Ill have a look. I like the technical stuff when it’s explained in a way a non-mechanic can follow.

binged the whole series a week or two ago, on a sunday evening. It was a good time.
The team seems really good, down to each person.
Sometimes the build quality seems fantastic. other times, it seems slightly slap-dash, due to rushing a job to flip it and not spend much time on each car toward their 6-figure goal.
That thunderbird speedster seems like it could have been epic, rather than just interesting....
The Lincoln Futura concept replica was fantastic... but they didn’t focus on the wavy fiberglass body line down the side, or the final finishing of the interior. The canopy hinges and roll-top dash were great, but I couldn’t tell if it actually had interior door cards and such...
... and all the sudden, it was sold and gone, which I get is the point, but a bit jarring for the story.
